RATE – TERMS AND CONDITIONS. These terms and conditions do not replace the rental agreement.

Personal data

The hirer, being the person who rents the vehicle, is responsible for its use during the rental, signs and pays the rental agreement, and is referred to below as the Customer. The Customer must provide the lessor, AUTOPORTRENT, Lda., NIF 502520345, with registered office at Rua Diogo Bernardes 17 D, 1700-128 Lisboa, Portugal, telephone +351 217 815 750, email info@autoportrent.com, referred to below as AUTOPORTRENT, with the details identified in the rental agreement, without which the rental cannot be concluded. Price, rental period, fuel and vehicles

• The rental price includes compulsory third party motor liability insurance, unlimited kilometres, collision (CDW) and theft (TP) cover, 24-hour roadside assistance and VAT.
• The minimum rental period is one day, which covers a maximum of 24 hours.
• Fuel and battery charge are the responsibility of the Customer, who must return the vehicle with the same quantity it had at the start of the rental. If this is not done, the value of the missing fuel or battery charge is debited together with a refuelling or recharging service fee of 15€.
• The vehicles shown may be replaced by equivalent models.
• Motorcycle rental includes one helmet.

Compulsory charges and services – E-Toll Service

The Via Verde electronic toll service is not included in the rental price. All rental vehicles are equipped with a device that can be used to pay tolls in mainland Portugal. At the start of the agreement, in addition to the rental amount and any extras and services contracted, the Customer is charged a compulsory service fee of 2,00 EUR per day, VAT included, for the E-Toll Via Verde service. Toll usage is charged separately to the Customer's credit card at the end of the rental. An additional security deposit for tolls is compulsory, as shown in the vehicle details. It is blocked on the Customer's credit card and released within 30 days of the vehicle being returned, since remaining toll usage may still be charged during that period.

Drivers and driving licence

The driving licence must be valid for driving in Portugal and must have been held for a minimum of two years from the date of issue. International driving licences must be accompanied by the original national driving licence. Only drivers named in the rental agreement are authorised to drive the rented vehicle. The minimum age to drive the rented vehicle is 21. The maximum age to drive the rented vehicle is 75.

Collection and return

On collecting the vehicle the Customer must pay the rental and all extras and services contracted in full, and lodge the security deposit shown in the vehicle details. The Customer must present the originals of the identification document (EU citizens: passport or citizen card; non-EU citizens: passport) and of the driving licence, together with the reservation voucher. The rental ends when the vehicle is returned at the date, time and place stated in the agreement. Any change during the rental requires the prior and express authorisation of AUTOPORTRENT. Where the return of the vehicle passes the agreed time, AUTOPORTRENT reserves the right to charge an extra day at the rate in force. AUTOPORTRENT reserves the right not to accept changes to the rental agreement.

Means of payment and security deposit

The rental amount, extras and other services may be paid in cash (euros) or by debit or credit card (VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX, DINERS). For the security deposit the Customer's credit card is compulsory, with sufficient available balance and a validity of more than 30 days beyond the end of the agreement. The deposit shown in the vehicle details is retained by AUTOPORTRENT for the whole rental period and released after it ends, except in the situations described in these terms. The physical presence of the credit card is required to lodge the deposit. Virtual, prepaid and top-up cards are not accepted.

Territorial scope

Use of the rented vehicle is restricted to mainland Portugal. However, if the Customer wishes to drive in Spain, prior authorisation must be requested from AUTOPORTRENT and the CROSS BORDER PT-ES service must be paid. Unauthorised driving outside mainland Portugal is treated as a breach of the rental agreement, exposing the Customer to the resulting penalties and liabilities for improper use of the rented vehicle.

Reservation confirmation

All reservations are subject to confirmation by AUTOPORTRENT. On the final step of the reservation, after payment, the Customer receives a confirmation email with the number and details of the reservation, which should be kept for use as a voucher when collecting the vehicle. Confirmation emails are sent daily between 09:30 and 17:30, except for reservations with collection in Setubal, for which confirmations are not sent on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays.

Cancellation of reservations

• If you cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before the start date and time of your rental, you are entitled to a refund of the amount paid.
• If you cancel your reservation less than 48 hours before the start date and time of your rental, you are not entitled to any refund.
• If you do not appear at the date, time and place set out in the reservation, and/or do not present all the necessary documents, and/or do not present your credit card with funds available for the security deposit, your reservation is treated as a No Show with no entitlement to a refund.

No Show reservations

The following situations are treated as No Show reservations: not collecting the vehicle at the date, time and place set out in the reservation; not presenting the documentation required to collect the vehicle; not presenting your credit card, as main driver, with funds available for the security deposit. In every situation treated as a No Show there is no entitlement to a refund.

Third party motor liability insurance

Compulsory third party motor liability insurance covers, in accordance with legal requirements, the terms of the AUTOPORTRENT insurance policy and the conditions of the rental agreement, damage caused to third parties in an accident involving the rented vehicle.

Collision (CDW) and theft (TP) cover

This cover limits the Customer's liability to the compulsory excess set out in the rental agreement, for collision damage to the rented vehicle or its theft. In the event of an accident, a properly completed and signed European Accident Statement must be presented, together with a report to the authorities where that is needed as evidence. If a third party is not proven to be at fault, the Customer is liable for the cost of the damage to the rented vehicle up to the maximum of the compulsory excess, which varies according to the vehicle group as shown in the vehicle details. In the event of theft of the rented vehicle, an immediate report to the authorities must be presented and the key returned to the nearest AUTOPORTRENT counter. In either case the Customer must report the event to AUTOPORTRENT immediately. If the information gathered raises doubts, AUTOPORTRENT reserves the right to retain the security deposit until the insurer decides.

CDW and TP do not cover: loss of keys; misfuelling; glass, including mirrors, headlights and rear lights of the rented vehicle, as well as its wheels or tyres; damage to the interior, roof or underside of the chassis of the rented vehicle; luggage; claims handling costs. Towing is always charged to the Customer where it results from loss of keys, misfuelling, or the Customer's fault. CDW and TP cover is void wherever negligence or improper use of the rented vehicle is established under the terms of the rental agreement. In that case the Customer is liable for the full loss, regardless of the excess amount.
