AUTOPORTRENT has been present in the market since 1991, and it is that long experience that has allowed us to provide an excellent vehicle rental service.
In the beginning our focus was the corporate market in the Lisbon area. Over the years the business expanded into the private market and into tourism, first in Lisbon and later in the Algarve through local rent-a-car partners.

How we got here
A short history of the company, from a Lisbon corporate fleet operator to an international rent-a-car brand.
1991 – The start
AUTOPORTRENT opens in Lisbon, focused on the corporate market. The company builds its reputation on availability, condition of the vehicles and straightforward contracts.
1995 – The airports
With the acquisition of Globalrent Lda, holder of the Eurodollar franchise which later became Sixt Rent a Car, AUTOPORTRENT began operating at the three main airports of mainland Portugal.
2000 – Our own brand
When Globalrent/Sixt was sold in 2000, AUTOPORTRENT continued in the local and tourist market under its own name. Today the company is based in Lisbon and Setubal, and operates in the Algarve through local partners.
Continued growth created the need to invest in taking the brand international. Foreign markets already represent a meaningful share of our rental activity, and this is where we are placing our biggest bet for the future.
